Frequently Asked Questions

What types of diagnostic tests do you offer?

Digital radiography, ultrasound, full comprehensive blood work panels, urinalysis, fecal analysis, cytology, as well as overnight shipping to reference labs for specialized tests on specific cases.

How long will it take to receive my pet’s test results?

Same day (many times within an hour from when the sample has been collected/received). There are a few specialized tests that we can send off to reference labs that take 3–5 days for results.

Are diagnostic tests painful or stressful for my pet?

Unfortunately, collecting samples may be stressful for pets, but our team provides a fear-free environment and proper restraint to help even the most anxious pets feel comfortable.

Does my pet need to be sedated or fasted before testing?

Fasting is always preferred for any bloodwork that may be performed. Many pets do just fine and do not require sedation for sample collection. If you believe your pet is anxious and could benefit from medications to help calm them down, please reach out before your visit so we can discuss options that may improve their experience.

How much do diagnostic procedures typically cost?

This varies depending on the type of tests performed. An estimate of cost can be provided. We will never perform tests without your approval.

Why are diagnostic procedures recommended for my pet?

Diagnostics are an extension of our physical exam. While physical exams can tell us a lot about the health of the animal, it can be very helpful to get more information when needed.

What happens if the results show something abnormal?

Receiving difficult news is always hard. We strive to provide a thorough explanation of what’s wrong with your pet as well as provide a tailored treatment plan to ensure your pet receives the best care possible.
