Frequently Asked Questions

Is anesthesia safe for my pet?

Anytime a pet is placed under anesthesia, there is risk involved. We provide pre-anesthetic diagnostics as well as an experienced, research-based anesthesia protocol tailored to each individual pet. When your pet needs an anesthetic procedure, we will discuss the risks and possible complications depending on your pet’s health and the procedure to be performed. Do not hesitate to ask questions!

What pre-surgical tests are required?

They are never mandatory but always recommended. Avoiding a preventable situation is always the goal. We take your pet’s health and well-being seriously.

How long will recovery take after anesthesia and surgery?

Right after surgery, we observe your pet in our hospital to ensure they are recovering well and are as comfortable as possible. Many surgeries can take up to a few weeks to fully heal. We recommend following the post-surgery discharge instructions to ensure your pet has a successful recovery.

What cancer treatment options do you offer?

Surgery for mass/tumor removals, oral chemotherapies, and intravenous chemotherapies. Supplements and diet options are also part of the treatment plan for cancer and chemotherapy patients.

Will my pet be in pain after surgery or chemotherapy?

We offer pain management therapies before, during, and after procedures. Injectable pain medications are utilized to ensure your pet is as pain-free as possible during and after an operation. We also recommend medications be sent home after surgery to aid in the healing process. Pain management protocols will be tailored to each individual pet based on the type of surgery and recovery.

What are the success rates/risks associated with the procedure?

Every surgery is different. We provide experienced surgeons and staff to ensure every surgery goes as well as possible. This will be a discussion we welcome when planning a procedure for your pet.
