Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know when it’s time to consider euthanasia?

This is the hardest decision we may face when owning a pet. We understand that, and we do not take this question lightly. While you know your pet best, we can help guide you through the process of knowing when it is the appropriate time to say the final goodbye.

What does the euthanasia process involve?

You and your pet will be welcomed into a quiet area of the clinic, which has a separate entrance and exit from the front lobby. There will be gentle music, as well as a comfortable blanket and treats for your pet. Sedation will be administered (typically in the muscle) to help ease your pet into this final transition. This needle poke may be slightly uncomfortable for some pets, but no more than if they were receiving a vaccination. Once comfortably sedated, we will then administer a final intravenous medication. You are welcome to be present with your pet during the entire process.

Can I stay with my pet during the procedure?

You are welcome to be present with your beloved pet during the entire process. We want to make sure you and your pet are comfortable and never feel rushed.

Do you offer at-home euthanasia services?

Unfortunately, not at this time, but please do not hesitate to ask. We may also be able to direct you to at-home services in our area.

What aftercare options are available (cremation, burial, etc.)?

Cremation through a third-party service is offered, with the option to have your pet’s remains returned home to you. If you wish to bury your pet’s remains, we can provide you with an appropriate burial box for most sizes.

Are grief counseling resources available for pet parents?

Not directly through our office, but we are happy to refer you to appropriate counseling services on request.
